Salesforce Data Migration:

What is 'Data Migration' ?

Almost every project will have a need to use the existing client's data inside of Salesforce. This could be simply moving everything from numerous MS Excel Spreadsheets or loading millions of records from an on-premis legacy system. This is not to be confused with Data Integration which needs to synchronise Salesforce with an external system. Data Migration is a 'one off' task but brings your Salesforce instance to life as you see your data being used.

How does Evergreen House do this?

Data migration requires aligning your data with your Salesforce system. This is typically done by deciding the fields you need in your system, providing you with a spreadsheet into which you simply 'paste' your data and then uploading this into Salesforce. However - the following are issues which typically arise:

 

• Which fields are a critical - and who needs access to them (or who shouldn't have access to them)
• How clean is the data? Are there missing fields, duplicate data or 'dirty' data?
• What information is needed and what can be archived? Salesforce has limits to the amount of data you can store per person
• What is the data migration strategy? Is the system going 'live' with a 'switch on date - or is it being rolled-out in phases?
  
  In certain cases, Evergreen House will use a third party to cleanse the data and align your data to the fields. This is a more reliable and cost effetive way to ensure clean and accurate data.
